Microscale Industries is an American manufacturer of waterslide decals and decal application solutions, based in Fountain Valley, California. The company is best known in the scale modelling world for two products that have become essential workbench staples: Micro Set and Micro Sol. These two solutions work together to help modellers apply waterslide decals smoothly and seamlessly, even over complex curved surfaces, panel lines and riveted detail.
Micro Set is applied to the model surface before the decal is placed. It softens the decal film and improves adhesion, helping the decal settle into position without silvering or air bubbles. Micro Sol is applied over the top of the positioned decal and acts as a stronger softening agent, causing the decal film to conform tightly to surface detail such as recessed panel lines, raised rivets and curved surfaces. Used together, the two solutions produce decal finishes that look painted on rather than applied. Microscale also produces Liquid Decal Film for repairing damaged or aged decals, Micro Metal Foil Adhesive for attaching metal foil and bare metal decals, and an extensive catalogue of waterslide decal sheets covering military aircraft, model railways and vehicles across multiple scales.
