The Army Painter is a Danish hobby paint company founded in 2007 by Bo Penstoft and Jonas Færing, both veterans of the wargaming industry. Bo spent over a decade at Games Workshop on the marketing side, while Jonas was a former 'Eavy Metal master painter. The two teamed up with a single goal: to help wargamers get their miniatures painted and onto the table faster. Their first product, Quickshade Dip, was the first speed painting solution brought to market and was an instant success, laying the foundations for what has since grown into the largest independent manufacturer of miniature paints and hobby accessories in the world.
From those beginnings in a small barn in Denmark, The Army Painter now operates from a state-of-the-art production facility in Skanderborg, Denmark, employs nearly 80 staff and exports to over 56 countries. The product range has expanded enormously to include the Warpaints Fanatic acrylic paint range, Speedpaint for rapid basecoating and shading, Colour Primers in spray can format, a full line of brushes and hobby tools, and basing materials. The Army Painter has also produced officially licensed paint sets for Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars and The Walking Dead, among others.
