Modelling Glue & Adhesives

At Wonderland Models, we stock a versatile selection of modelling adhesives to suit plastic, wood, and metal kits. Our range includes:

  • Poly cement - for bonding hard polystyrene as used in model kits
  • Super glue (cyanoacrylate) - for fast bonds on metal and resin parts
  • All-purpose & wood glues - great for wooden kits or mixed media models
  • Epoxy-resin - two-part adhesive for the strongest bonds
  • Trusted brands such as Tamiya, Revell, Humbrol, and UHU ensure reliable results

For speciality needs, we also carry slower-setting gel superglue, clear-part adhesives, and tube- and bottle-style cements to help with precision and versatility.

What glue do I need for a plastic model kit?

Standard plastic kits need polystyrene cement, which chemically welds the plastic parts together for a permanent, strong bond. Liquid cement applied with a fine brush gives the neatest results with minimal excess glue. Our Glue range includes both liquid and tube cements for plastic kits.

Can I use superglue on plastic kits?

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) can be used on plastic, particularly for small parts or repairs, but it doesn’t weld the plastic the way polystyrene cement does, so joints can be more brittle. It’s most useful for attaching photo-etched or resin add-ons to a plastic kit. For the main structural joints on a plastic kit, polystyrene cement remains the better choice.

What glue is best for metal parts?

Metal kits are traditionally soldered, though cyanoacrylate or epoxy adhesives are now widely used for metal-to-metal and metal-to-plastic joins as a simpler alternative. Our Metal Model Kits FAQs cover this in more detail. Choose an adhesive rated for metal specifically for the strongest bond.

What glue should I use for wooden model kits?

Wood glue or PVA is the standard choice for wooden kits, giving a strong bond with enough working time to reposition parts before it sets. Cyanoacrylate is useful for small, fiddly fittings where a fast bond matters more than repositioning time. See our Wooden Models & Kits FAQs for more detail on wooden ship and aircraft assembly.

Do Warhammer miniatures need a specific glue?

Standard plastic miniatures need polystyrene cement rather than superglue, which bonds far less securely on plastic-to-plastic joins used in most Citadel kits. Push-fit “Easy to Build” miniatures need no glue at all. Our Tabletop Games & Miniatures FAQs cover assembly in more detail.

What’s the difference between liquid cement and tube glue?

Liquid cement is thinner and applied with a brush after parts are held in place, flowing into the joint by capillary action for a nearly invisible bond. Tube glue is thicker and can be applied directly to a part before assembly, which is more forgiving for beginners but can leave visible excess if overused. Our Glue range stocks both types.

How do I fix a joint that hasn’t bonded properly?

Clean any old, cured glue away from the joint surfaces first, then reapply fresh cement or adhesive suited to the material, holding the parts firmly until set. For plastic, a small amount of liquid cement often re-melts the surface enough to create a fresh bond. If a joint keeps failing, check that both surfaces are clean, dry and free of paint before regluing.
