Are the miniatures pre-assembled or do I need to build them?

Most tabletop miniatures are supplied as multi-part plastic kits that need assembling, though push-fit “Easy to Build” ranges need no glue at all. Check the product listing for a push-fit label if you’d rather skip assembly. Standard kits give more posing flexibility but do need a little patience and the right glue.

Do I need a rulebook to play?

Yes, you’ll need the core rulebook for your chosen game plus an army or faction book to field your models, alongside dice and a tape measure. Starter boxes are the easiest way in, as they typically bundle a small force with a simplified ruleset. Browse Games Workshop for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar starter sets, or our Battletech and Dungeons & Dragons miniatures ranges for other systems.

What glue do I need for multi-part miniatures?

Standard plastic miniatures need polystyrene cement rather than superglue, which bonds far less securely on plastic-to-plastic joins. Our Glue range includes the cements recommended for Citadel and other tabletop plastic kits. Push-fit kits, by contrast, need no glue whatsoever.

Do I need to paint my miniatures before I can play?

No, unpainted models are perfectly legal to use, though painting is a core part of the hobby for most collectors and is expected at a basic level in many tournaments. Our Model Paints & Varnishes and Brushes ranges are a good starting point alongside any new army box.

What’s the best starter set for a new army?

Look for combat patrol or “start collecting” style boxes, as these bundle a playable force at a lower cost than buying units individually. They’re designed specifically as an entry point, so you get a balanced, table-ready force straight away. Check our Games Workshop shelf for current starter sets.

Which games does Wonderland Models stock miniatures for?

Alongside Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar from Games Workshop, we stock miniatures for Battletech and Dungeons & Dragons. Each system has its own scale and base conventions, so check the specific game’s rules before mixing miniatures across ranges.

What accessories do I need beyond the models themselves?

Most tabletop games need dice, a tape measure or ruler, and unit or objective markers in addition to the miniatures and rulebook. Once your force is painted, a display case is worth considering to keep it dust-free between games. Many starter sets include a basic set of dice to get you playing straight away.
