The USS Stevens DD-479 Fletcher-Class Destroyer from our 1/350 and 1/400 scale ship model kits range accurately recreates the real-life US Navy destroyer from World War II. This plastic model kit requires paint and glue to complete.
Fletcher-class destroyer USS Stevens was commissioned in 1943 and named after Rear Admiral Thomas H. Stevens Jr. and his father Captain Thomas H. Stevens. Built at Charleston Navy Yard, she served in the Pacific during World War II. Stevens was one of six Fletcher-class modified to carry a Vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane, replacing some standard armament. The experiment was short-lived and reverted to standard configuration by 1944. Decommissioned in 1946, Stevens remained in reserve until being struck from the Naval Vessel Register in 1972 and sold for scrap in 1973.
