Wilesco D419 Showmans Engine Kit Description
The Wilesco D419 Showmans Engine Kit is a fully working live steam engine from the range of Wilesco Hobby Technique. This technically perfect model D419 has been painted in matching colors.
This build it yourself kit is a new release for 2008 and offers the steam enthusiast the opportunity to build this classic Showmans Engine for themself.
A chemically black painted brass boiler which has a diameter of 1.8", length 7.3", boiler volume 14 in, with a water gauge glass. Powerful, double action reversible cylinder. Flywheel with a diameter of 3.2". The showman's engine can be run in forward or reverse depending on the movement of the flywheel.
Spring loaded safety valve, steam regulator, steam whistle, steam jet oiler and footbridge, traditional chain steering. A clutch engaged gear wheel permits the use of the engine and the operation of the dynamo either stationary or driving. The dynamo illuminates the eight diodes mounted around the canopy of the engine. The condensed water of this engine is collected below the smoke stack.
Operating time about 15 minutes per fuel charge.
All single parts are manufactured from finely painted metal.

D419 Showmans Engine Kit
This would have had 5 stars if it weren't for the sometimes very vague instructions but overal the kit is brilliant and my child has had HOURS of fun both building it and running it. The lights do a fantastic job of illuminating the brass work when it starts getting darker. The ONLY gripe I'd have is the quality of the light rails, they're somewhat flimsy BUT it's nothing that a good "Dob" of araldite cannot cure. All in all though, a brilliant little (not so at over 12")machine giving hours of fun..
