The Bachmann Class 47 No. 47712 ‘Lady Diana Spencer’ in ScotRail livery is an ideal accessory set to accompany any 00 Gauge (1/76 Scale) Train set or Diorama in the Post -TOPS (1972 - 1982) era.
This locomotive first entered traffic as D1935 on 18th March 1966 after being built at Brush Works. It was renumbered twice before finally gaining its current number, 47805, in August 1989. It has carried several names over the years including ‘Bristol Bath Road’ between June 1991 and February 1995, ‘Pride of Toton’ between 2002 and 2003 when it was in Virgin Trains livery and ‘Talisman’ between 2006 and 2011.
It was acquired by Direct Rails Service (DRS) in 2011 after the locomotive spent a period of time working for Riviera Trains. Two years later the locomotive was named ‘John Scott 12.5.45 – 22.5.12’ in memory of a highly-respected member of the DRS Maintenance team at Carlisle who died aged 67. The naming was carried out in a private ceremony at the DRS Kingmoor Depot which was attended by family and friends. Still currently in service with Direct Rail Service, the locomotive is working from Kingmoor Depot, Carlisle and can be found carrying the company’s Compass livery.
