The Airfix 1/72 Vulcan To The Sky Gift Set from the plastic aircraft model gift set range accurately recreates the real life British V-Bomber that was in service from 1953 to 1984. Airfix makes a donation to the Vulcan To The Sky Trust for each of these kits sold.

This plastic aircraft kit comes with all the paint and glue required to complete the model.

XH558 was the last Vulcan to leave RAF service, flying on from 1986 to 1993 as the single RAF Display Vulcan, a career of 33 years. Her final flight was on 23rd March 1993 to Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in Leicestershire, having been sold off by the Ministry of Defence.

In 1997, a small team headed by Dr Robert Pleming started to put together an audacious plan to return her to flight, but it was clear from the start that the project would be technically challenging & enormously expensive. Never deterred, the team set off down the path that led to XH558’s return to the air.

Finally, 14 years after its last service flight and with over £7million spent, Vulcan XH558 roared into the air again on Thursday 18th October 2007, a perfect day for flying. An unforgettable day for the Vulcan to the Sky team.

As always, prompt and efficient service. The model looks fine and I understand it is a beast that has been left on many modellers 'work in progress' shelf, let's wait and see.

As usual delivery from wonderland models was swift; only had a quick glance at sealed contents.I remember one of these aircraft flying over frith beach in wales when i was a boy. First the roar of the jets then that delta wing going overhead;WOW! so i had to have a model of the last to fly(shame it no longer do;s)

My 10 year old son really enjoyed making this and did a really good job on his own. Could do with a bit more paint and glue as I had to buy some more.

    Great Aircraft

Good price for this model, delivery as always was very prompt. I would always recommend Wonderland Models. I was disappointed in the quality of this Airfix kit, the quality of the parts is not good. lots of excess plastic on all parts. But that said I am looking forward to finishing this aircraft and giving it pride of place in my office. Keep this bird in the air!!

    Poor quality moulding

On one of the components of the main body of the aircraft is a date, 1983. I think these must be the original moulds (32 year old) as the amount of flash and the offset of the mouldings indicates wear of the dies and slidepins. It is a pity that such poor quality is used for what is a iconic charity model.
