Revell Models 1/18 Laser Segelboot Description
The Revell
1/18 Laser Segelboot
is a plastic ship kit which requires paint, and may require glue, to complete.
The original name of the Laser was 'Freetime', which aptly described the actual purpose of this manageable leisure craft that could easily be transported on a car roofrack.
To give the single-hand dinghy a more-contemporary and typical name, it was re-christened 'Laser' in 1974. To-date 190,000 of these longlived and robust dinghies have been sold world-wide. Constructed in exactly the same way worldwide and with absolute uniformity, the Laser I ultimately embodies the Olympic ideal as does no other class of boat. With exactly the same equipment, it is only the personal sailing ability of its crew that decides the winner.
The rig comprises a two-section mast. The 7 square metres sail, with two lower battens and a shorter top batten, has a mast sleeve which is simply pulled over the mast. The boom is simply slipped onto the gooseneck.
