Description
The Corel Yacht D'Oro wooden ship model is an accurate reproduction of the real life yacht.
Built by the shipbuilder Peckelherius in Kolberg in 1678-79 for the Grand Electorate of Brandenberg, this vessel was also known as the “Great Yacht.” She was armed with eight guns. She sailed between Amsterdam, London and Berlin before she broke up in 1721.
Corel’s Yacht D'Oro kit uses pre-cut frames and keel for its single plank-on-frame construction. Wooden formers assure proper hull shape, and pre-formed resin transom saves building time. Correctly scaled blocks, deadeyes and belaying pins, burnished metal cannon on wooden carriages and brass ornamentation outfit the model. A photo-etched copper sheet reproduces the elaborate detailing of the bulwarks, doors, windows and other trim. Three diameters of rigging line, cotton sail cloth and silk-screened flags complete the kit. Plans are on two large sheets.
