Live Steam Mallard Set R1041

The Hornby R1041 Live Steam Mallard Set is a copy of the locomotive built in 1938 by LNER Chief Mechanical Engineer Sir Nigel Gresley.
This majestic A4 Class locomotive still holds the world speed record for steam traction on rail, set on 3 July 1938 when the locomotive was recorded at 126mph. The prototype cost 8,500 when built more than 65 years ago and is now part of the National Collection in the National Railway Museum, York.
The Model The Mallard is the first Hornby Live Steam locomotive to be released, and is included in a special Hornby Live Steam set, along with control box and transformer unit, maintenance tools, large oval of track and instructions.
The large oval of track is standard Hornby '00' gauge, requiring a space of 244cm x 107cm. All the items in the set are intended for use with Hornby Live Steam models only.
Each set includes:
Live Steam locomotive Mallard Live Steam control box and transformer box
Large oval of '00' gauge track (approximately 244mm x 107mm)
