Revell Models 1/72 Lockheed F-22 "Raptor" Description
The Revell 1/72 Lockheed F-22 "Raptor" plastic aircraft model accurately recreates the real life combat aircraft. This plastic aircraft kit requires paint and glue to complete.
The most modern combat aircraft of the U.S. Air Force is built by Lockheed Martin and Boeing and is called F-22 'Raptor'.
Over the next few years this air superiority fighter will replace the F-15 Eagle that has been in active service since 1976. The aircraft is characterised by its supercruise capability, cutting edge avionics with active electronic radar beam deflection, high manoeuvrability and excellent stealth characteristics. As a result of its design, however, the F-22 carries a lower weapon load in its closed internal weapons bay than traditional combat aircraft.
The first flight of the prototype took place in September 1997. Five years later the aircraft's official designation was changed to F/A-22. The extra A stands for "attack", which highlights its secondary ground-attack role to combat mobile or heavily defended ground tragets. At the end of 2005 the U.S. Air Force declared the official service entry of the aircraft type and the F/A-22's original designation was reinstated.
