Dragon 1/72 German Stug.III Ausf.G Early Production - 3.Pz.Division, 'Totenkopf' - Ukraine 1944 Description
This Dragon 1/72 German Stug.III Ausf.G Early Production - 3.Pz.Division, 'Totenkopf' - Ukraine 1944 is a diecast assembled model in the Dragon Assembled Military Models range.
Initially designed as a support weapon, the StuG III interestingly turned out to be the most widely produced German armoured fighting vehicles of WWII! Cheaper than the Panzer III tank it was based upon, a total of 10,619 StuG IIIs of all types were eventually produced. The StuG III had accounted for an impressive 20,000 destroyed enemy tanks by the spring of 1944 alone.
The most common variant was the Ausf.G, which also happens to be the subject of a new release from Dragon Armor. Item no. 60312 represents an Early Production Ausf.G of the "Totenkopf" (the name translates as "death's head" or "skull") Panzer Division. Finished in a dramatic winter-whitewash scheme, the lower hull bears traces of it's original sand-yellow base coat. The vehicle is a real veteran as noted by the 'kill marks' on the side. s being over-run and captured by Soviet forces.
