The
Airfix 1/72 Battle of Britain Memorial Flight 50th Anniversary Celebration Gift Set offers a selection of 1/72 scale
plastic aircraft models, including the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane and a Lancaster Bomber, all with new released flight colours and logos.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight never fails to evoke emotion, from pride to remembrance, gratitude to admiration. The sight of this flight commemorates a nation's dogged determination and aspirations, and continues to inspire generation after generation. This year the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight marks an important milestone since its formation at Biggin Hill in 1957, its Golden Anniversary. Fifty years on, its ever increasing popularity has meant that the crew now perform upwards of 700 individual aircraft appearances each year.
This anniversary collection comes with all three aircraft in the 50th Anniversary Decal scheme of The Phantom of the Ruhr which was released at Conningsby in April 2007. The Flight Stand enables all three models to be presented in their flight formation. The actual built model sizes are; The Hurricane - 127x155mm, The Spitfire - 136x169mm and The Lancaster - 293x430mm. This set will also contain a special tripod stand with action pivots to allow the finished plastic models to be posed at different angles.
