This
Dragon 1/700 U.S.S. Pennsylvania BB-38 1944 is a
plastic model kit in the
Dragon Warship Plastic Model Kits range.
Launched on 16 March 1915, the USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) was the lead ship in her super-dreadnought battleship class. When the Japanese made their surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, the Pennsylvania was in dry dock and it was one of the first ships to open fire on enemy dive bombers. It was strafed in the attack and suffered 15 KIA and 14 MIA. Later the battleship was to participate in the Aleutian, Saipan, Guam, and Leyte Gulf campaigns, and was involved in more than its fair share of combat in the Pacific theater. At the end of its life, the USS Pennsylvania suffered the ignominy of becoming a target ship in nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll in 1946.
